Assessment Objectives
- AO1 Reading: Demonstrate understanding of explicit/implicit meanings, and analyze language, structure, and form.

Essay Frameworks
Narrative Framework
1. Exposition (The Hook)
Establishing setting, characters, and atmosphere. Using sensory details to immerse the reader immediately.
2. Rising Action
Introduction of conflict or complication. Building tension through pacing and character interaction.
3. Climax
The turning point or moment of highest tension. Action-driven sentences and emotional peak.
4. Falling Action
The immediate aftermath of the climax. Slowing down the pace and dealing with consequences.
5. Resolution
Concluding the narrative arc, providing closure or a deliberate open ending reflecting thematic depth.
Argumentative Framework
1. Introduction
Engaging hook, background context, and a clear, arguable thesis statement outlining the main stance.
2. Body Paragraphs (Claims)
Using PEEL (Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link). Presenting strong arguments supported by data, examples, or logical reasoning.
3. Counter-Argument & Rebuttal
Acknowledging opposing views fairly, then dismantling them to strengthen the original thesis.
4. Conclusion
Restating the thesis in a new way, summarizing main points, and ending with a powerful call-to-action or final thought.
